New Songs and Videos in 2018 from Dream English! Learn English Children

The year is off to a fun start with the New Jobs Song, Pet Song, Winter Clothing Song, A to Z Vehicles and more! Great for young learners of English. In today’s post I give some fun tips on how to use these new songs in your classes. Learn more below!

A to Z Vehicles Song

I currently have three new song in the A to Z series. These song are made to help children learn the alphabet, while learning vocabulary and phrases. Please check out the Food A to Z and Animals A to Z song. The vehicles A to Z song teaches vehicle names like ambulance, and motorcycle, and watch out for the Nose Car!

Do You Have a Pet? Song

I have a pet goldfish. How about you? This fun song teaches students how to ask and answer, “Do you have a pet?” Many students have pets, so this is very useful. We also learn cat, dog, fish, bird, and elephant in English. Sing this song and then ask your students the question, “Do you have a pet?”

Job Song

I have been wanting to write a Jobs Song for a long time. I’m happy I waited as I’m really happy with the results. From the comments I’m getting on this video, students around the world are enjoying the new Jobs Song!

After singing the song, have your students take turn acting out the gestures from the song. The other students have to guess the job!

ABC We-O-We

This song is a fun action song for the classroom. It is a bit of a challenge, and kids love a challenge! We make our bodies into the ABC letters, and do gestures for three words that start with A, B, and C. Give it a try with your young English learners or preschool class! After the song, challenge your students to say all of the vocabulary words with the gestures from the song!

Winter Clothing Song

It’s cold outside, brr, brr, brr! My students love this song, probably because it is so silly and fun. This song teaches, “put on my jacket” and more winter clothes. The refrain of “brr, brr, brr” keeps it silly and memorable!

New Winter Clothing Song for Young Learners of English Plus Video and Free MP3 Song Download!

Brrr! It’s cold! I LOVE saying, “brr, brr, brr” in classes. The young students always laugh and smile. When it’s cold we have to bundle up in our hats and jackets. I made this fun song to teach young learners of English (ESL, EFL) the target language of “put on my jacket.” Learn how to teach below the video!

How to Teach the Winter Clothing Song

I start teaching this song by pointing outside (if there is a window) and saying, “brrr, it’s cold!” and make it look like I am really cold. A bit of acting skills come in handy here. You can see how I do this in the video above. Then I use flashcards to show the winter clothing items in this song: hat, jacket, gloves, scarf, boots. Or you can show real clothing items.

Next, I use the target language of the song and say, “hat, put on my hat” and act like I am putting on my hat. I have the students follow along and repeat the vocabulary if they are ready. Remember, it is not necessary for young learners to repeat and say the language right away.  I do not like to rush my young learners. Let them ease into the language in a fun and natural way.

Fun Tip: I always say, “brr, brr, brr” after saying each phrase like this, “put on my jacket, brr, brr, brr” The kids always laugh at that.

Then simply play the song and sing along with your students, or watch the video and sing along. It’s that easy! Kids will follow along soon enough. Download a Free MP3 of the song here. Happy Singing!

Jobs and Occupations Song For Children’s English Class And Free Song Download

Learning about jobs and occupations like doctor, teacher, firefighter is an important part of English for young learners (ESL, EFL). The Dream English Jobs Song teaches us about important people we might see every day. More below the video!

Key Words: doctor, teacher, pilot, firefighter, pirate
Target Phrase: I see a teacher.

How to teach: If you have been using Dream English, many of your students may already be familiar with the phrase, “What do you see?” Use flashcards to teach the target vocabulary. MES English has great ones. Then ask your students “Who do you see?” and have them answer. You can watch the video before one time to get the students familiar with the song. Then either download the free song and sing it in class, or watch the video. Be sure to do all of the actions with the song!

This song may be a bit different than other jobs songs. I made this in order for children to be able to identify people they might see in books, or in their daily life. You can download a free mp3 of this song here. Full lyrics are in the video description on YouTube. Happy Singing!

Let’s Count to 10 on a Pirate Adventure! A Fun Young Learners Classroom Song!

When teaching young learners English in an EFL or ESL environment, I love doing circle time songs. A circle time song is a song you sing and act out while walking in a circle with your students. With this in mind I created the new Pirate Ship Action and Counting Song. More below the video:

Counting and Moving

The idea of this song is very simple: Let’s count numbers while moving in a circle and doing some fun actions. The pirate ship part is an extra layer of fun! We’re not just walking and singing, we’re having an adventure!

How to Teach:

Target Vocabulary: pirate ship, pirate, numbers 1-10, plank, beach, crocodile, treasure, open, gold coins. (If you are not sure about some of this vocabulary, please watch the video. Also, check out the video thumbnail for the following vocabulary: pirate, plank, beach, treasure, 1,2 ,3.)

You can let the students watch the video one time, and have them act along with it. Or, draw some pictures on the board, or use flashcards to show the different parts of the ship, beach, etc.

After the students are familiar with the vocabulary, you can teach the song without the video if you like. Try getting your students in a circle, and singing the song. You can either do this a cappella (without background music) or using the song only. Your students will have a lot of fun getting their energy out and doing all of the actions. Give it a try, and happy singing!

New Animal Alphabet Song: A to Z Sing Animal Names for Young English Learners

Learning the alphabet is really important for young learners of English (ESL, EFL students). There are many ways to learn the ABCs, from the traditional ABC song we all know, using flashcards, or practicing writing. More below the video.

This song contains 26 animal names from A to Z. Children can learn to associate a letter with an animal name, like “A is for anteater. B is for bear.” They can also practice writing all of the letters and animal names from the video. Here are all of the animals in the song, from A to Z:

New Podcast! Young Learners English Lesson – A Lesson Plan for ESL, EFL Students
